To produce cosmetically perfect blooms for export to the U.S. and Europe, Columbia's 80,000 flower industry workers, mostly women, perform long hours of physically grueling and hazardous labor.

Pollinators— most often bees, butterflies, birds, and bats are critical to fruit and seed production. The pesticide Imidacloprid is believed to be one of the main causes for Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) amongst bees.

Flores Muertas

The print series Flores Muertas depicts the issue of where our flowers come from, what kind of hidden real costs and dangers lie behind them and questions global capitalism as a real danger to people and the environment.

Murcielago Santo

I had the distinct pleasure to see Glenn's studio this past Saturday during their Open House. Loved his oversize silkscreen prints and compared silkscreen notes. My artist friend Nancy McIntyre had told me to stop by and it was worth the 12 street blocks I walked from I Street and 21st Street to 14th Street -- all covered in white beautiful snow.

A week ago my wife Mikaila and I went by Jesse's and Amy's house on Walter Reed. Jesse is pictured below showing off some of his photos and art he has collected over the years. It made me think, that most artists are also collectors. Even on tight budgets, artists trade, buy, or gift art to each other. It's a beautiful thing!
